About spacechip

An awesome place I've visited:

Juneau, AK.

My perfect Sunday:

Leisured cooking and dining sessions punctuated by strolls and naps, drinks and smokes, song and dance.

The movie I've watched the most times:

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. Clerks, Pulp Fiction and the Lion King.

My life history in 5 sentences or fewer:

Born in raised in Amherst, MA, the youngest child of a Filipina dentist and an American social worker. Grew up climbing trees and riding bikes, building Legos and having epic waterfights, pretending to practice the piano, trying to draw comics, and playing lots of Nintendo. Picked up the guitar, dropped out of highschool, got a job as dishwasher and went through line cook bootcamp. Ran with a pack of fiercely independent, critically minded, intellectually voracious unschoolers; artists, musicians, philosoph

My first concert / My dream concert:

My first concert, in truth, was probably Alanis Morrisette in Amherst in '96. The much cooler story is Hedwig and the Angry Inch in NYC in '99. My dream concert would be the recording session for Tom Waits' "Nighthawks at the Diner", in LA 1975. They set up a bar in the studio and played two shows a night for two nights. The opening act was a stripper, backed by same killer jazz combo featured on the album.

Obscure knowledge I possess:

When they built New College at Oxford in the 14th century, they planted trees intending them to be used to replace the roofbeams 500 years later.

I have a weakness for guys/girls who:

Are both elegant and tomboyish. Someone who's as comfortable in heels and a dress as they are barefoot, up a tree.

For me, a first date no-no is:

Excessive vanity or pessimism, I suppose.

What I would bring to show and tell:

My transmogrifier?

I secretly want to be:

A housewife, just like my dear Papa.

An infatuation of mine:

Package design. Liquor bottles, soap boxes, books and vinyl records. Rough paper, letterpress, calligraphy, comics and illustration.

If I won the lottery and quit my job, I would:

Buy a downtown building, outfit it with an array of musical instruments and industrial kitchen equipment, and throw the best parties.

I want to come home to:

A beautiful woman, a cat, a piano, and a fully stocked kitchen.
